少年记忆里的老家院子格局，三间正房，两间厦房。正房是茅草房，厦房是瓦房，茅草房住着爷爷奶奶和一辈子没有成家的大伯，瓦房住着我们一家。那时候，似乎整冬整冬都下着大雪，长长的冰凌从檐口垂挂下来，比冬天还要长。我发现，茅草房的冰凌和瓦房的冰凌有两处不同，茅草房的冰凌结得要壮硕一些，更长一些，甚至能垂挂到地面，让人产生天地相连的错觉。瓦房的冰凌会短小一些，整齐一些，也脆弱得多，会被一阵风吹折；茅草房的冰凌颜色褐黑或淡黑，有茅草的卤水苦涩，瓦房的冰凌透明无色，有一股淡淡的瓦味。瓦味是什么味呢？我也说不清，瓦是泥做的，但已不是泥味，那说不出的味近似于崭新的铁钉味，父亲给人打家具时，会用到钉子，我尝过那个味道。我认定那带着一半铁钉味道的，就是瓦味，瓦味里也有一股蓝。我到十八岁高中毕业时，第一次到县城，才知道这个世界上有冰棍这个东西，但少年时，我已提前学会了把房子上垂挂下来的冰凌当冰棍吃，它取之不尽，比随起随落的风还要方便，还能变换着口味吃。
